Portable Restroom & Porta Potty Rentals in Winston-Salem, NC

Piedmont Disposal has rented portable restrooms out of Winston-Salem since 1999, and our trucks still leave from the same city: our yard is at 4420 Providence Lane. We deliver porta potties, ADA units, hand wash stations and climate-controlled restroom trailers to job sites, venues and backyards across Forsyth County, then keep them clean and stocked until pickup.

What You Can Rent in Winston-Salem

We carry every piece a Winston-Salem site or event usually needs, from a single porta potty for a garage build to a bank of units, sinks and a trailer for a weekend festival. Tell us the headcount and how long you need them, and we will match the units to the job.

Standard Porta Potty

The most common type of portable bathroom rental, standard porta-potties are self-contained units that include a toilet and urinal. They are a cost-effective and convenient option for outdoor events, festivals, and other events where easy access to a basic restroom facility is needed.

Two Stall Restroom Trailers

Perfect for smaller gatherings or events with limited space, our two-stall restroom trailers provide a clean, comfortable experience with separate entrances for men and women. Each unit features flushing toilets, running water, climate control, and a stylish interior—offering a big upgrade from basic portable restrooms without taking up too much room.

Four Stall Restroom Trailers

Ideal for larger crowds or longer events, our four-stall restroom trailers offer a balance of convenience and capacity. Guests will appreciate modern amenities like private stalls, sinks with running water, air conditioning and heat, and tasteful finishes. Great for weddings, festivals, and upscale occasions where a touch of class matters.

Hand Sanitizer Stations

Hand sanitizing stations are standalone units that provide hand sanitizer for guests or workers to use. They are a simple and effective way to promote good hygiene practices and prevent the spread of germs.

Single & Double Sink Hand Washing Stations

Piedmont Disposal offers a variety of portable hand washing stations. No matter the size or location of your event, Piedmont Disposal has the perfect portable hand washing station to meet your needs.

How Many Porta Potties Do You Need?

Three things set the count: how many people, for how many hours, and whether there is food or alcohol. Start with the tables below, then check your numbers in the calculator or give us a call. Being one unit short is what guests and crews remember.

Job Sites: What OSHA Requires

For construction work, OSHA’s sanitation standard, 29 CFR 1926.51, sets the minimum number of toilet facilities by crew size:

  • 20 or fewer employees: 1 minimum facility
  • 20 or more employees: 1 toilet seat and 1 urinal per 40 workers
  • 200 or more employees: 1 toilet seat and 1 urinal per 50 workers

The standard also requires washing facilities on most sites, so pair your units with a hand wash station. Mobile crews with a vehicle and nearby restrooms are the only exemption. Treat the table as a floor: crews in a Winston-Salem July, long shifts and growing headcounts fill units faster, and we recommend weekly servicing at a minimum.

Events: A Starting Point

Standard units for an event of about 4 hours:

  • 50 guests: 1 unit with no alcohol, 2 units with alcohol
  • 100 guests: 2 units with no alcohol, 3 units with alcohol
  • 150 guests: 3 units with no alcohol, 4 units with alcohol
  • 250 guests: 5 units with no alcohol, 6 units with alcohol
  • 500 guests: 10 units with no alcohol, 12 units with alcohol

Add units as the event runs past four hours, and plan on roughly 20 percent more when alcohol is served. Put a hand wash station wherever food is served. Or swap a row of units for one four-stall trailer, which handles up to 231 guests over eight hours on its own tanks.

How Many ADA Units?

The 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design (section 213.2) treat 5 percent of each cluster of portable toilets at a public event as the accessible share. That works out to at least one ADA unit in every group, plus one more for roughly every 20 units. Units used only by a construction crew do not have to be accessible.

Job Site Restrooms in Winston-Salem

Homebuilders, remodelers, commercial contractors and road crews keep our units on site for weeks or months at a time. Each service visit pumps, cleans and restocks every unit, and we can add service days when the crew grows. Add hand wash stations, holding tanks for the site office, or fresh water for job trailers on the same account.

Before we deliver:

  • Pick a firm, level spot our service truck can back up to.
  • Keep units clear of equipment swing areas and traffic lanes.
  • Place them close to where the crew works, not at the far end of the lot.
  • Tell us about gates, codes and site hours so service visits get in.

Event Restrooms in Winston-Salem

Weddings, church homecomings, races, school events, reunions and festivals all run on the same rule: enough clean restrooms that nobody waits. We set up before guests arrive and haul everything away after. A restroom trailer suits a wedding or a vineyard reception; a bank of standard units with an ADA unit and hand wash stations suits a crowd.

Winston-Salem Permits and Health Rules

A porta potty on private property, whether your lot, your yard or a private venue, does not need its own city permit. Public events are different. Festivals, races, parades and block parties need a City of Winston-Salem special event permit: the preliminary application is due 45 days before the event, the complete application with a notarized notification affidavit 30 days before, and the fee is $100 for one or two events. The application asks for a site map, so book your restrooms first and mark where they will go.

If vendors will sell food, the Forsyth County Environmental Health Division needs the vendor paperwork at least 30 days ahead, and each food area must have its own hand sink with soap and paper towels. Units that will sit in a street or on a sidewalk need a temporary right-of-way closure permit from the City’s Engineering department.

Where We Deliver

We cover all of Winston-Salem and the rest of Forsyth County, including Clemmons, Kernersville, Lewisville, Pfafftown, Rural Hall, Tobaccoville, Walkertown and Bethania, plus Advance and Yadkinville. Because our yard is in the city, Winston-Salem jobs are the shortest run on our schedule.

How Renting Works

  1. Call 336-777-8805 or send the quote form with the address, dates, headcount and whether it is a job or an event.
  2. We recommend units and a service schedule, then confirm the price and delivery date.
  3. Clear a level spot the truck can reach. You do not need to be there if the placement notes are clear.
  4. We deliver, set the units and service them on schedule.
  5. Call for pickup when you are done, or give us the end date up front.

Porta Potty Rental Prices in Winston-Salem

The price comes down to which units, how many, how long and how often they are serviced. One standard unit for a Saturday cookout and a dozen units on a six-month build are priced very differently. Restroom trailers cost more than standard units because of the delivery, setup and plumbing involved.

  • Unit type: standard, ADA, hand wash station or restroom trailer
  • Number of units
  • Rental length: a day, a weekend, a month or a full project
  • Service frequency: weekly, twice weekly, or event attendant
  • Add-ons: generator, water hookup, holding tank, fresh water system

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to rent a porta potty in Winston-Salem?

It depends on the unit type, the number of units, how long you keep them and how often they are serviced. Call 336-777-8805 with your address, dates and headcount for an exact price.

For a four-hour event, start with one standard unit for every 50 guests and add about 20 percent if alcohol is served. Longer events need more. Include at least one ADA unit and a hand wash station near any food. The calculator on this page gives a count for your guest list.

Under OSHA 29 CFR 1926.51, a site with 20 or fewer workers needs at least one toilet facility. Above that, the minimum is one toilet seat and one urinal per 40 workers, and one per 50 once a site passes 200 workers. Most sites also need hand washing facilities.

On job sites we recommend at least weekly service, with extra days for large crews or hot weather. Every visit includes pumping, cleaning and restocking. Event units arrive clean and stocked, and multi-day events can be serviced between days.

Not for a unit on private property. A unit in a street or on a sidewalk needs a temporary right-of-way closure permit from the City. Public events such as festivals, races and block parties need a City of Winston-Salem special event permit, with the preliminary application due 45 days ahead and the complete application 30 days ahead.

For public events, the 2010 ADA Standards treat 5 percent of each cluster of portable toilets as the accessible share, so plan at least one ADA unit per group. Units used only by construction workers are not required to be accessible.

Porta potties are single self-contained units with no running water, built for job sites and big public crowds. A restroom trailer has private stalls, flushing toilets, running-water sinks, lighting, heat and air conditioning, which suits weddings, receptions and corporate events. Many events use both: a trailer for guests and standard units for staff and vendors.

Power and a level spot the truck can reach. The two-stall trailer needs one dedicated 20-amp circuit and the four-stall needs two 30-amp circuits; we rent generators if there is no power. Water is optional because the trailers carry their own tanks, though a 3/4-inch hookup raises the four-stall trailer’s capacity from 231 to 321 guests over eight hours.

As soon as your date is set, especially for a restroom trailer on a spring or fall weekend. For a public event, book before you file the city permit so your site map shows where the restrooms go. For job sites, call when the project is scheduled.

Yes. Restrooms, hand wash stations, holding tanks, dumpsters, concrete washout containers and storage boxes can all go on one account. See dumpster rentals in Winston-Salem.
