Basic Description
Roll-Off Drivers are responsible for preparing, securing and the eventual transport of open top and compactor
containers to various disposal sites which include landfills, transfer facilities and the various customer jobsite
locations. Roll-Off Drivers will need to navigate driveways, alleyways, job sites and traffic filled roadways. This may
also entail operating in tight environments, backing up long distances such as private driveways as well as heavy
industrial and crowded city environments. Current drivers average 50 hours per week. Piedmont Disposal is closed
on the weekends.
Overall Responsibility
- Operate vehicle in accordance with Piedmont Disposal, Inc. Safety Rules, OSHA (Occupational and Safety Health Act), DOT (Department of Transportation) as well as all local, municipal, state, and federal laws
- Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned equipment
- Report any unsafe situations or service-related issues to dispatch
- Report any incidents, accidents, injures, or property damage to dispatch
- Report service problems, blocked containers, or any potential safety hazards
- Report all containers damaged and in need of repair
- Must attend and participate in all training and safety programs, including all safety meetings.
- Communicate with dispatch to improve route production and communicate the best way to perform your duties
- Communicate any customer requests with dispatch
- Complete and submit work orders and driver logs as required
- Expected to deliver and return containers to a customer’s property in a position that ensures the safe and proper operation of the container. Ensure driveway entrances, mailboxes or other traffic thruways are not blocked
- Must follow the route as assigned by dispatch and understand the customer’s needs
Qualifications
- Experience: 2 year(s) of previous experience operating a CDL vehicle requiring a CDL or equivalent military driving within the last 7 years
- The applicant must be 21 years of age
- Hold a current Class A or B Commercial ‘Driver’s License with an air brake endorsement.
- Acceptable driving record required.
- Successfully complete a pre-employment DOT drug screen, physical, and background check, which will include previous employment check, criminal history, and motor vehicle record review
